Why different feeds?Opie has different device support. Depending of the embedded linux distribution mainteners, Opie applications can be run out of the box or need to be downloaded from a particular file repository. We need to maintain different feeds mainly because of libraries or compilers incompatibilities. Compaq iPAQOpie first device target are iPaq PDAs running Linux. In order to install Opie, you will first need to install "Familiar Linux Distribution" following its installation guide. "Familiar" teams always prepare complet linux distribution with last stable Opie release. As soon as it is installed, you will be able to add new feeds to /etc/ipkg.conf in order to download new applications, upgrades some of them or install unstable release. At any time, here is the Opie main stable feed for iPaq: You can also use other feeds at your own risk from http://opie.handhelds.org/feed/ipaq/ * Note : For advanced user, it's possible to install Opie on Familiar bootstrap image. From a commandline type "ipkg install task-opie". This will install a basic Opie system.
